About Us
NBEHT was originally established in 1972 by people who have an interest in the built, natural and social environment of the town and surrounding area.
We have grown over the years and are now delivering a number of projects and initiatives:
funding to consolidate the 17th century St Andrew’s Kirk at Kirk Ports
community-based arts-activism through pARTicipate
a series of local heritage guides
a Planning and Built Heritage Group which is monitoring local planning applications
We regularly contact officials of East Lothian Council and North Berwick Coastal Ward’s councillors on a variety of subjects including planning, landscape & countryside, roads, transport and architecture. We aim to contribute to the overall and ongoing improvement of North Berwick.

Olwyn Owen - Chair
I joined NBEHT because I care hugely about the natural and historic environment of North Berwick - which together make this such a special place. NBEHT works with others to conserve the best of the past and carries out projects to enhance our beautiful town. We really enjoy exploring historic North Berwick and sharing its stories with the community and visitors alike.

Jane Thomas - Vice Chair
I joined NBEHT because special places like North Berwick rely on the support and involvement of their community to thrive. I particularly value how pro-active NBEHT is and the way in which it complements other community groups in our lovely town.

Julia Zeller-Jacques - Trustee and pARTicipate lead
I've been part of North Berwick’s High Street and its artistic community for several years and I hope by being part of the Trust, I can continue to help support local art and creative projects in the area.

Kirsty Towler - Trustee and Planning lead
I was a planner and urban designer by profession. I am greatly interested in community engagement and want to help retain and promote North Berwick as a special place where the the community is considerate of their surroundings and the impact of change. While change is inevitable it is important that change should be beneficial to those who live and work in North Berwick.

Katrina Crossley - Trustee and Heritage Guides lead
As a recent resident of North Berwick, I appreciate all that the town has to offer. The Trust has a wealth of experience in helping to make what North Berwick is today and it has exciting plans for the future.

Dorothy Barbour - Trustee and Minutes Secretary
NBEHT really does become involved in all the varied aspects of the town’s uniqueness, preserving but also recognising change comes with time and can be welcome. It is good to be involved.
